A familiar, smiling face on Ruddington’s Green 10 bus service has won Nottingham City Transport‘s first “seasonal driver award” of 2017. Badar Sheikh achieved the accolade by scoring 91% during his mystery traveller assessment.
Mr Sheikh, who sometimes drives the Green 6 route too, commented that he was extremely happy and surprised to have won the award, but he also felt that it was very rewarding to be recognised for doing the job he enjoys.
Mr Ferris, his Garage Manager at NCT, explains: “It is important as a company that we continue to recognise and reward drivers for the great work that they do in an ever demanding environment. Not only are the streets of Nottingham becoming more demanding in terms of traffic and congestion, but the customer expectations of our drivers increases year on year and it is up to us to rise to those challenges”.
Passenger Karl is delighted at the recognition, taking to Twitter to say: “This guy is the best driver on the NCT roster. Absolute legend!” Janet Whittaker commented on Facebook: “I’ve known this driver for a few years. He is a credit to NCT.” Ellie Dring says: “He is always lovely and cheery when we get on the bus!” and Pearl Andrews posted: “Love this driver! He often does the 10 on the school run and is such a lovely man. Please make him driver of the year!!!!”
Indeed Badar WILL now be shortlisted for the NCT Driver of the Year 2017 award. He will also be one of the first to drive the new eco-friendly Bio-Gas buses (pictured behind Mr Sheikh) being introduced imminently on Ruddington’s Green 10 route. Please watch this space!
